some nice surprises!
Update on oncologist
So basically it went very well. I met with 2 different oncologists. One is a medical oncologist who handles the hormone blocker and the other is a regular oncologist who handles radiation.
First of all, I found out that my cancer was actually downgraded because the tumor ended up being smaller than what the imaging showed. So that was kind of good news. Second, I am eligible for a clinical trial where I can go on a low dose of tamoxifen instead of the full dose of another hormone inhibitor. It all depends on whether I would be chosen for the clinical trial. I’m thinking I will go ahead and submit for the trial and then if they pick me for the clinical trial fine. If not, I’ll go on the regular hormone inhibitor so that kind of is an answer to prayer for me because I’m wasn’t sure what was going to happen with that.
As far as the radiation goes, I only have to have 3 weeks of radiation 15 sessions which is better than what I expected which was 4 weeks and 20 sessions. I realize that there will be a few side effects, but I don’t think it’ll be anything too major with that and I’ll keep you updated when that happens. Radiation should be probably around the third week in September and it will be Monday through Friday about 10 minutes each time, I am irradiated.
So all in all about what I expected with a few little fun surprises. Not bad and so I’m very thankful that this is my treatment program and it will be through quickly. As always, thanks for everyone’s prayers and support. I appreciate it!
