What do you see when you look at yourself in the mirror?  If you are like most people, you see all your flaws.  Especially those parts of yourself you absolutely hate.  Immediately your eyes go to those particular spots, and you start your day off on a negative vibe about yourself.  That’s terrible but true isn’t it?  I’m no different.  Even if our reflection shows us something good, we instead choose to believe what’s in our head.  What’s in our head then transfers to our eyes and our view of ourself.  Many times, people give up on eating plans because they see themselves a certain way, and can’t get motivated to change that view.  They see defeat when they look in the mirror, and that leads to real defeat.  Oh if only we could see the real us!

This society is so focused on externals.  Have you ever realized that?  All you have to do is look at commercials both TV and print media and you will see that.  Because of this constant messaging, we all are driven to achieve that external beauty.  It is an endless merry go round and no one comes out the winner in the long run.

What would happen if we instead embraced our bodies and our inner beauty?  Everyone has inner beauty:  quiet strengths and talents, far away from the outside view.  What if we focused on that for a while instead of the mirror!  What a difference in our day, our week, our lives that would bring!  Instead of feeling defeated, we would feel victorious about the things we’ve achieved in our lives, the TRUE beauty!

I challenge you to look in the mirror and see beyond the reflection.  As you look at yourself, make a mental list of all of your strengths, achievements and the things you LIKE about yourself.  Then walk away from that mirror, knowing there is much more than your reflection, and be VICTORIOUS.
